立冬 - Lidong signifies the beginning of winter.

Last Saturday, Cooky's Mom came to our classroom and brought us a jar of her home made chicken soup. She showed her appreciation to us with the chicken soup. Cooky is one of our students. He is 8 years old.
The chicken soup was stewed with Chinese medicine. It was November 7th. We called the date "Lidong". Lidong signifies the beginning of winter and having nutritious chicken stew on that day is a Chinese custom. We call it 冬令进补 (dōng lìng jìn bŭ). After "进jìn 补bŭ " , we will have the extra energy to go throug the bitter winter. Thanks to Cooky's mom. We are stronger now. Have you "进jìn 补bŭ " yet?
